Position Summary
The Resource Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities across multiple grade levels. This position ensures students receive services aligned with their ARD/IEP goals while supporting academic growth in the general education curriculum.
Primary Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Support
- Provide direct instruction to students receiving special education services across multiple grade levels.
- Deliver small-group and/or individual instruction based on IEP goals.
- Modify and adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs.
- Provide intervention in core academic areas (Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies).
- Support students in preparation for STAAR/EOC assessments.
- Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in ARDs.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
IEP / ARD Compliance
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collect and document data on student progress toward IEP goals.
- Participate in ARD meetings and collaborate with parents and staff.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and required paperwork.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with general education teachers across multiple grade levels.
- Provide support and strategies for inclusion classrooms.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
- Work closely with administrators, diagnosticians, counselors, and related service providers.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
- Administer informal and formal assessments as needed.
- Analyze academic data to guide instructional planning.
- Track growth and report progress each grading period.
- Assist with testing accommodations during STAAR/EOC testing.
Campus Support
- Support RTI/MTSS processes when appropriate.
- Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
- Assist with campus-wide initiatives supporting student achievement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (required)
- Special Education Certification (required)
- Experience working with multiple grade levels preferred
- Knowledge of TEKS, STAAR, and IEP development
